Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), a famous British writer, was born in Picardy Place near Edinburgh, Scotland. His father was a civil servant in the Ministry of Construction and Construction. Known for shaping the detective Sherlock Holmes. After graduating from Edinburgh Medical College in 1882, he worked as a doctor until 1890. He was awarded the title of knight for his outstanding work in the South African Field Hospital. The character Sherlock Holmes first appeared in the book "Studies of Blood Characters" in 1887.
